Caroline McNamara,Senior Sanitarian

  • 31 years of service

Caroline McNamara has worked for Monroe County's Environmental Health Division 31 years. Caroline currently oversees their Food Protection Program as a Sr. Public Health Sanitarian. In that role, she has become an expert at leading and conducting foodborne illness investigations and has earned the respect of her NYSDOH partners. Most recently she investigated an outbreak with over 200 reports of illness associated with eating meals served at a banquet facility on Thanksgiving. After getting the initial reports of illness, Caroline jumped into action and worked tirelessly in the following days to coordinate the investigation activities in order to prevent further illness and determine the cause. These activities included conducting interviews, gathering food and stool specimens and doing food preparation reviews with the banquet facility's staff. Caroline's expertise, strong work ethic and dedication to her job makes her an ideal candidate for this honor.
