  • 17 Years of Service

Paul Snyder, P.E. works with both the Chautauqua County Department of Health and Human Services' Environmental Health Unit and the Chautauqua County Department of Public Facilities. During a major water line break in March 2018, Paul provided his time and expertise to assist repair of the water main and conduct water testing to return it to service as soon as possible. This break resulted in interruption in water service to the City of Dunkirk water supply which delivers of water to residents and businesses in northern Chautauqua County including the City of Dunkirk, and the towns of Sheridan, Pomfret and Dunkirk (about 30,000 residents plus businesses). For 52 hours straight, he remained on call or was on site assisting the City in recovering from a grave water emergency. Paul monitored the City's State-licensed lab results of more than 100 system-wide tests to assure negative bacteria presence, low turbidity and good disinfection level residuals. Because of this vigilance, he helped the City resume normal operations providing safe water and allowing for the lifting of a boil water advisory within 52-hours.
