Most Medicaid eligible people residing in a mandatory county are required to join a managed care health plan. The Now is the Time to Join a Health Plan (PDF, 471KB, 9pg.) brochure will explain to you how to join a health plan, what health plan services are covered, who does not have to or cannot join a health plan and who to contact for more information.

The NY State Medicaid Redesign Team (MRT) initiatives include phasing out many of the managed care exemptions and exclusions beginning 10/1/11. The goal is to have care management for most Medicaid recipients. Visit the Medicaid Redesign Team page for more information.

For more information about Medicaid managed care in your County, contact NY Medicaid Choice at 1-800-505-5678. You may also call or visit your Local Department of Social Services.
