NY State of Health Awareness Day to be Celebrated in State Parks
In-Person Assistors to Offer Health Plan Information On-Site at Parks Across New York State
ALBANY, N.Y. (August 17, 2017) - NY State of Health, the state's official health plan Marketplace, is partnering with the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation on August 19th in select state parks across the state. The second annual event is known as NY State of Health Awareness Day and enables visitors to talk with in-person assistors who will be on-site to provide information about affordable coverage, answer questions and make enrollment appointments.
"New Yorkers are busy, so we're continuing our effort to meet them in locations that are convenient, including our beautiful state parks," said NY State of Health Executive Director Donna Frescatore. "Park visitors can learn about how easy it is to get a good, low-cost health plan through the Marketplace, and enjoy a swim, hike or paddle, all in the same place."
"Along with the abundance ofrecreational opportunities to explore at state parks we are thrilled to partner with NY State of Health to provide more education on how New Yorkers can lead healthy, active and invigorating lifestyles that strengthen mind and muscle," said State Parks Commissioner Rose Harvey. "NY State of Health Awareness Day reminds us of the importance in maintaining our overall physical, mental and social wellness and the vital role it plays in our health and happiness."

All health plans offered through NY State of Health cover preventive care, such as routine doctor visits and screenings, at no additional cost. Enrollment in Medicaid, Child Health Plus and the Essential Plan is open all year. While 2017 Open Enrollment for Qualified Health Plans has ended, some consumers may be eligible to enroll through a special enrollment period. Open Enrollment for 2018 begins on November 1, 2017.
