Online Tool Gives Consumers Access to Provider Network and Health Plan Data

Usage Surges During 2018 Open Enrollment Period as New Yorkers Research Plan Options

ALBANY, NY (November 27, 2017) – NY State of Health, the state's official health plan Marketplace, today announced that the NYS Provider & Health Plan Look-Up has recorded more than 100,000 distinct users since its launch in May 2017, including nearly 31,000 since the start of Open Enrollment- November 1, 2017.

The online tool allows consumers who are shopping for a health plan to search for their preferred health care providers, including doctors and hospitals, to see which health plans have those providers in their network.

"This tool helps consumers learn if their doctors and other healthcare professionals are included in the provider networks of the health plans they are considering enrolling in," said NY State of Health Executive Director Donna Frescatore. "Picking a health plan is an important decision. With the 2018 Open Enrollment Period in full swing, this tool is another way the Marketplace is making the health plan shopping experience a little easier for New Yorkers."

The NYS Provider & Health Plan Look-Up includes information on providers that participate with plans offered through NY State of Health, including Qualified Health Plans, the Essential Plan, Child Health Plus and Medicaid Managed Care. The Look-Up tool has all the information you need in one place. It allows you to search by health plan or provider, you can refine your search to include provider specialty, gender, spoken language and wheelchair access. The Tool will be updated in 2018 to add provider network data for commercial insurance products.

Open Enrollment in a Qualified Health Plan runs through January 31, 2018. Consumers must enroll by December 15, 2017 for coverage beginning January 1, 2018. Enrollment in the Essential Plan, Medicaid and Child Health Plus is open all year.
