Supervising Public Health Nurse Sandra Pejcic has been serving her community since 1997, when she arrived in Utica as a Bosnian refugee. She began by volunteering at the resettlement agency, then the Oneida County Health Department (OCHD) contracted with her as an interpreter and TB outreach worker. After pursuing a degree in nursing, she was hired as a Registered Nurse at OCHD and was then promoted to Public Health Nurse and TB Program Coordinator.

Today, Sandra serves as a Supervising Public Health Nurse, continues to run the TB program and works with Refugee Health Assessment Programs. Sandra's dedication and empathy, along with her hardworking, goal- oriented demeanor, make her an asset to the department and a role model to both her peers and the refugees she helps.
