Ann DeSimone, RN, BS, EMT-B, Public Health Nurse, Nassau County Department of Health

Ann DeSimone

  • 2.5 years of service

Ann DeSimone began her community service as a member of the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC). She started working for the Nassau County Emergency Preparedness Unit in September of 2007. Her initial focus was to develop and maintain the Medical Point of Dispensing (POD) plan for Nassau County.

For the past five months, Ann has been indispensable—leading our efforts to provide information and vaccinations at more than 50 H1N1 PODs managed by the Emergency Preparedness Unit. She has also managed to find the time to attend the North East Public Health Leadership Institute and work on her project to develop a Special Needs Registry for Nassau County.

Ann is a remarkably dedicated and compassionate professional and a mentor to staff. In only two and a half years of service with Nassau County Department of Health she has accomplished what many have not been able to do in decades of service.
