The multidisciplinary Immunization Clinic Quality Improvement team worked diligently to assess immunization clinic strengths and weaknesses and, through multidisciplinary input and best practices review, developed a Vaccine Clinic Action Plan. They focused on clinic flow, nurse/ client relationship, privacy, minimizing wait times, and decreasing the stress on clinic staff. What evolved were agency clinic processes that correspond to the complexities of the current immunization schedule.

The team recommended automated scheduling, environmental controls to improve vaccination storage and organization, critical thinking skill builders for immunizers and Health educator involvement in setting up an appropriate children's room for education and play while waiting for clinic services. They addressed weaknesses through quality improvement processes, and developed solutions to enhance and improve community service delivery while maximizing customer service, and understanding of the importance of up to date immunization for children and adults. This was accomplished while minimizing the chance of error and maximizing patient satisfaction.
