Since 1999, WCDH has been enrolling individuals into health insurance program and was recently funded to operate a navigator program. This program aligns with the Department’s Community Health Improvement Plan by increasing access to health care services.

Since the Marketplace opened, in October 2013, the amount of public interest in the program has been staggering. Led by Leoni Parker, the navigator team has worked tirelessly, including evenings and weekends, to respond to the tremendous public demand. They established new meeting sites to accommodate clients and developed new procedures to effectively triage calls for appointments, handle requests for presentations, and answer questions on the Affordable Care Act and the Marketplace. Additional non-grant funded staff were trained as navigators to respond to the high demand. The team has processed over 1,000 applications, been interviewed by media and held over 30 presentations to promote the program. The team’s dedication is remarkable and unsurpassed!
