Janinne Blank, Director, Division of the Medical Examiner, has brought tremendous improvements to the Erie County Medical Examiner's Office in the form of sorely needed new policies, procedures and resources. She's secured needed equipment and upgrades for the office. She is a tireless advocate and has boosted employee morale within the office. Janinne also serves as a liaison between the Medical Examiner's Office and other county agencies. She actively participates in the Crisis Services Coalition and is involved with the Specialized Medical Assistance Response Team (SMART, Erie County's public health emergency volunteer response organization) and Ebola preparedness activities. Through Janinne's efforts, the Medical Examiner's Office has been able to enhance the quality of the forensic services that it provides to the citizens of Erie and several surrounding counties (Niagara, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus). The value of her contributions to the division and the department cannot be overstated.
