In October of 2014 retirement incentives at the Orange County Health Department led to the departure of a substantial number of staff including the Director of Patient Services and three Supervising Public Health Nurses (SPHNs). In the wake of these retirements, the remaining three SPHNs: Theresa Einterz, Mary Marsh and Pamela Weissflog, continued to excel at their jobs while assuming additional duties previously covered by other staff. Their ability to respond 24/7 to emerging public health needs – including the recent Ebola outbreak in the end of 2014 – is a testament to their exceptional work ethic and dedication to public health.
