Throughout his career, Art Flescher has been committed to expanding access, creating awareness and developing partnerships within the substance abuse and mental health communities. Since 2011, Mr. Flescher has served as the Director of Community Mental Hygiene Services. His vast knowledge, consensus building skills and sense of humor has proven to be a tremendous asset to Suffolk County. Most recently Mr. Flescher has played an integral role in the County's response to the opioid epidemic that is facing so many counties across this Country. Mr. Flescher has been instrumental in organizing workshops to raise awareness for parents, prescribers and school personnel. He has partnered with Emergency Medical Services and community based organizations to develop a program with the goal of linking those who have experienced an overdose reversal to care. He has also continued to support medication-assisted treatments including a pilot program within the County's correctional facilities to assist inmates upon release.
