For more than 20 years Karen Derusha has implemented projects targeting a range of (negative) health behaviors, developing community partners and connections in the process. One of the first Clinton County Department of Health's staff to hone their skills in policy, systems, and environmental work by leading tobacco-free initiatives, training local professionals on Complete Streets practices and pioneering Health Impact Assessment activities in our community. Her willingness to share her knowledge and experience has allowed the Department to grow its capacity for Policy, Systems & Environmental (PSE) change work. Karen also serves as Public Information Officer and leads social media initiatives in addition to her staff supervision and other responsibilities. As a constant and dependable resource for staff and a knowledgeable, seasoned mentor to students, she is successfully influencing the future of public health. She does all this with a pleasant disposition, keen sense of humor and clear long-term vision for public health in Clinton County.
