Patricia Gormley, Registered Nurse, Putnam County Department of Health

  • 13 Years of Service

Pat Gormley, RN, works non-stop to deliver essential public health services to underserved communities in Putnam County. With her Spanish-speaking abilities, she improves access to health care services by removing barriers and bridging gaps, putting patients at ease and providing needed support to the Tuberculosis (TB) and Immunization Programs. Throughout Putnam County, Pat is known as a champion for the immigrant community and the economically disadvantaged. She has been called a "whirling dervish" for her enthusiasm, passion and unstoppable flow of ideas. In 2017 Pat's enthusiasm spread as she rallied co-workers to volunteer their free time to help her transform an overgrown green space adjacent to the health department. The now thriving vegetable and flower garden is emblematic of one of Putnam's Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) priorities – to improve mental and emotional wellbeing and the power of gardening to do so.
