Sepsis Data Collection

General hospitals are required to report sepsis-related data to the New York State (NYS) Department of Health. These data are used to calculate each hospital's risk-adjusted severe sepsis and septic shock mortality rates.

To help make sure that reported data, which is used for public reporting on hospital performance, is correct and complete, the NYS Department of Health has partnered with IPRO to use a variety of methods to authenticate the integrity of the data and the reports. More information on the means of data collection and validation can be found on the IPRO webpage for NYS Sepsis Data Collection.
