Russell Nemecek, Water Quality Management Coordinator

Russell Nemecek is the Water Quality Management Coordinator for the Division of Environmental Health. Russ manages the Onondaga County Council on Environmental Health, which provides informed and objective citizen's advice on environmental health issues to the County Executive, County Legislature and Commissioner of Health. Recent issues have included Lyme disease and urban deer population management, agricultural and manure runoff, and special projects in the Otisco Lake, Skaneateles Lake, and Onondaga Lake Watersheds. Russ has recently spearheaded several important environmental projects including removal of water chestnuts in the Three Rivers water system, studying and implementing best management practices on agricultural lands, and investigation of new invasive species in various county watersheds.
