Get Tested. Getting tested is the only way to know if you have hep C. Speak with your health care provider about getting tested. If you know someone who may be at risk, remind them to speak to their healthcare provider to get tested. - Baby boomers are five times more likely to have hep C. They NYS Hepatitis C Testing Law requires a hep C screening test be offered to every individual born between 1945 and 1965. Get Treated. If you have been diagnosed with hep C, there is good news! Today there are treatments available that cure hep C, with few side effects. Almost everyone who takes their hep C treatment is cured. Prevent the spread of hep C by getting cured! Even if you were treated in the past or had a treatment that didn't work. Speak to your health care provider about options for treatment.

- If you are uninsured or under-insured, there are resources including patient assistance and co-pay programs. You can also use the New York State Hepatitis C Care and Treatment Programs to find out if there is a treatment program in your area.

What is New York Doing to Eliminate Hep C? In March 2018, New York State announced funding to support programs that will lead toward the elimination of hep C in NY state. A task force was created to develop a plan for elimination. The task force is made up of representatives from community-based organizations, people living with and affected by hep C, health care providers, payers, public health experts, researchers, harm reduction specialists and social service providers.
